THIS STARTED WITH MY OWN KIDS.

Backpacks & Bleachers grew out of years spent making things for my own kids, their teams, their teachers and their schools.

Now I have a second grader, a freshman and a senior, which means I’m somehow living almost every version of school life at the same time. Somewhere between field days, Friday nights and realizing senior year goes far too quickly, this idea started to feel like something bigger.

For field days, Friday nights & everything in between.

I'M IN IT TOO.

I’m Diane, the person behind Backpacks & Bleachers, and I spend a slightly ridiculous amount of my life thinking about school.

With three kids at three very different stages, our family calendar currently includes everything from elementary school events to high school sports, senior activities and college applications. I know how quickly the little school moments turn into the ones you wish you could keep.

I also know the other side of it. The emails. The sign-ups. The fundraisers. The last-minute teacher gifts. And the occasional moment of wondering whether I already ordered the yearbook or just thought about ordering the yearbook.

Backpacks & Bleachers is my way of making some of that school life a little more fun, a little more personal and a lot more worth remembering.

It’s the backpack that looks enormous on the first day of kindergarten and the senior photo you can’t quite believe you’re taking twelve years later. It’s field days, team dinners, teacher appreciation, Friday night games, class parties, fundraisers and a calendar that somehow always has one more thing on it.
